During a yearlong residency at Headlands Center for the Arts, I engaged their database of participating artists as both source material and subject in an investigation of community and connection. Using social mapping software, I visualized a series of possible interactions between artists in residence.
This video essay details the methodology used to generate its weblike forms, and investigates the unexpected outcomes and ambiguities of collaborating with machines.
It was first shown as part of a performance installation with a live drawing machine.
